Flex goes Open Source

April 26, 2007

Hi, its really nice to know how Adobe is going. After it took over Macromedia, I thought all the tools from Macromedia will not get the much needed love from Adobe, but its surprising that Adobe is really serious about its products and it shows from all the activities going on in Adobe. Today, Adobe annouced that Flex is going opensource. Wow, wow I am stunned. Its amazing and just superb. Previously with the free SDK the libs were only thing to be available, but now starting from ASC ( Actionscript 3 compiler ) to MXMLC ( MXML compiler ) are going to be opensource. Do you knwo what that means ? All those Opensource IDE s, which use different methods to “code-hint”, “compilation” etc can make use of Flex Original compiler and that is a huge thing for any developer as there may be many IDEs of choice. But thats only part of the ice berg. Wait to be taken away by Flex. Here is the press release. Cheers Adobe.

Linux powered ( the distros I like )

April 25, 2007

Its my desktop and I want a easy to install, easy to use yet feature rich, graphics rich, multimedia Operating System which must perform with very high speed. Oh yes I tried all those people are talking about. But to the Operating System ( OS ) I like the most is Linux. Well, then I must talk about the distro I like unless it is not a complete statement for linux world is too much more than just one choice.

Ubuntu : Simple and elegant GUI, though installation of additional softwares might be a pain for newbie.

Kubuntu :  Cool graphics GUI. I would say must for those who want to shift to Linux but want a Windows like GUI. But Its much more than that. You have a got a whole lot of options to speak of GUI here and the power of Ubuntu.

KNOPPIX : Cool UI like Kubuntu and  it has a lot of softwares already inside it. So are productive right out of the pack. If you have a friend, who uses other OS, then take him to surprise by showing him how this OS Looks and works. Similar look and much enriched user experience in terms of navigation.

Adobe CS3, Photoshop rocks

April 20, 2007

CS3 Launch at Mumbai, India
I had attended the Adobe CS3 India lunch yesterday. It was a whole day event but full of surprises from Adobe. After acquisition to Macromedia, the products from Adobe and late Macromedia has matured like anything. I was stunned with the amount of things come into Photoshop. One can really map 3D Objects inside Photoshop, previously all these kinds of things were either done inside the 3D softwares or third party programs like DeepPaint, Deep Exploration etc. You can bring your 3D object into Photoshop and add new Maps to it.Then if you like you can rotate the object to your need and there you go, all the sides of one object is right inside your Photoshop, no need to goo back to 3D software render from another angle and bring that image to Photoshop.Ohh, yes when you bring the 3D objects inside Photoshop, it brings all the textures applied to the object in 3D software too. So if you just want to edit one map, you can edit it in photoshop itself.Again, no need to edit the map in photoshop, go back to 3D application, reapply the map, render and bring the image to Photoshop. Its such a real time saver. There are lot many cool things, but I like this most about Photoshop CS3.
